Combat
-Two shootouts were seen in their respective previewed missions, 'Final Interview' and 'Deconstruction for Beginners'. In the second mission, Niko fought a group of mobsters on the roof of a construction site.
-If Niko is under heavy fire, he can slide baseball-style into cover, maximising the time between running and being ready to shoot.
-Aiming is not down the barrel, but rather via a Halo-sized reticule that can be zoomed in and out of Rainbow Six style. Niko will automatically lock onto an enemy’s chest, but once you are locked-on you can free aim about the body, allowing skilled players to pull off headshots or even shoot at weapon carrying limbs. As a result of this, we can be up for some nice testicle shots!
-In the preview, the previewees found that the AI 'still needs a bit of work'. However, they did see a few gunmen run for cover in the face of a lobbed grenade. Others, on the other hand, still had a tendency to stand there and 'take it like a man'.
The AI was told to the previewees that it will have access to all the same animations as Niko.
Changing Conditions
-Rain storms will have affect on lighting conditions to a drastic degree, but this depends on how heavy the rain is.
-Peak hour traffic levels are in the game.
-Fog is confirmed and it looks 'Silent Hill-esque'.
The City
-The previewees saw at least five types of rubbish bins along the way through Liberty City; this depended on the area they were in.
-Liberty City has a complex freeway network.
Euphoria
-Passengers in your car will casually look out of the window, thier eyes following things of interest.
-Characters will also lean to one side when in a car; if it goes around a corner quickly, they will do so to counter-act the increased G-force.
-Enemies clutch at their feet when shot in the toe, over-balance and topple off of a walkway.
-Niko leans back as he descends a downwards sloping path.
Social interaction
-Niko's mobile phone shows reception strength, time, call duration and caller ID.
-Niko's walking animation has permanent limp, a result of a past injury.
HUD
-The now famous circular radar is fixed to bottome left corner of the screen.
-A single flick of a buttonenables you to zoom out to the world map, select your destination and activate a GPS guidance system that will show you the best route to your destination.
-Choosing a radio station causes a Rolodex of logos to appear at the top of the screen that you can scroll between: it fades away following use.
-The same goes for your weapon selections, with a small icon appearing in the top-right corner as you scroll through your arsenal.
-Every street name will flash up on the bottom-right corner of your screen as you weave in and out of the city’s streets.
Vehicles
-Dashboards in cars differ.
-Blood appears on bonnets and taillights can smash.
-Some more fancy vehicles have verbal GPS guidance.
-Motion blurs like in Burnout when driving at high speeds.
-You will be able to lob grenades and fire pistols out of car windows.
Other Stuff
-There is more than one way to gain access to the Piggy Bank (i.e. Police database).
-Clothes can be soaked with blood in gameplay.
-If you die during a mission, upon re-spawning at the nearest hospital, you will receive a text message on your phone that will prompt you to replay it again, immediately.
-What makes escaping the police-searched red radius on your radar much more difficult than it sounds is that police are constantly calling in reinforcements.
-Niko's breath and breathing will SFX consistent with how heavy he is doing so.
-Air traffic flying over Liberty City is visible.
